John Bright: Tim qualifies for Ireland

I hear Midlands businessman Tim Blairs was caught changing nationalities at the Ireland v England rugby match.
My spies tell me the managing director of Antringham Developments and lead singer of Hot Property was sauntering into Croke Park when he got caught up in a Sinn Fein protest – upset at the English being allowed to play on such hallowed ground.`

Blairs apparently can march with the best of them, and needed to as he was 'swept away'.
He also suddenly developed the most authentic Irish accent you are ever likely to hear but eventually managed to extract himself.
A lucky escape.
Oh, and the wags say Blairs' Irish dancing is coming on a treat too!

A record number of contenders from the Midlands property market go head to head in the seventh Stoford Challenge.

The event, by Stoford Developments, is at Outdoor Adventure outside Bude on the north Cornwall coast from May 13-15 and twenty teams will compete. No doubt horrible tests are in order – the particular forms of torture involve abseiling, climbing, orienteering, raft building and canoeing.
EC Harris, Lambert Smith Hampton, Savills, Eversheds, King Sturge and Knight Frank are among the contenders.
Foolish children!

I hear that Advantage West Midlands PR guru Neil Skitt has handed in his notice.
This comes just weeks after Bright had revealed that the lad no longer even lived in the West Midlands.
He has moved to Derbyshire.
Outrageous.
And where is he headed? Well, apparently stacking shelves in some supermarket or other, possibly Tesco.
Or, to be more truthful, perhaps some role trying to explain why it is perfectly acceptable for Tesco to run the country – as it clearly does.
Still we shall have to express regret at his departure.
Because he was at least good at his job.
I fully expect him to be replaced by some politically correct ass who can recite every clause of diversity and sexual harassment legislation, but hasn't got a clue about PR.
We shall see.

Vision clearance executive – otherwise known as a window cleaner – has been voted the most stupid job title of all time.
It came ahead of education centre nourishment production assistant (dinner lady) and waste removal engineer (bin man) in a poll by video recruitment website www.jobs2view.com.
Quite.

The huntin, shootin, fishin, brigade are celebrating the imminent departure of Tony Blair.
And well to the fore is country buff and Moseley rugby stalwart Greville Edwards, "Lord of Hadzor".
Why hadn't he been in the column recently, he moaned a couple of weeks back.
Because you haven't sent me anything, I told him. Naturally this was a red rag to a bull.
So through the post comes the latest Keep Hunting literature and a suggestion I should sign for The Foxhunter's Bye-Bye Blair Ball at The Lydes, Toddington, on June 16.
Personally I have always been ambivalent about fox hunting, so I shall decline.
But no doubt the troops will have a fine time cursing Blair.
Can't think why. Most of the "antis" scuttled off to another cause while rural folk carry on as before.
They won but never realised it.

News of Bright's vicar on earth John Duckers ...
Seems the old boy had slightly too much juice at the Press Club monthly gathering, staggered off for a curry with John James and Tony Flanagan, and promptly dozed off.
He woke with a start five minutes later and instantly demanded the bill.
The trio hadn't even ordered by this point.
But at least it embarrassed him sufficiently into paying at the conclusion of the meal.
"We had a lovely time," declares James. "You just weren't speaking the same language."
Trouble is the lad is showing disturbing signs of senility even when stone cold sober.
Back in March, having been invited out to view PR guru Andy Skinner's new Spanish pad, he e-mailed fellow traveller James offering to pick him up on the way to the airport.
One snag though.
It was two months too early.
Ah well, at least it wasn't two months too late.
